Gunmen Attack Passenger Vehicle in Niger State — Several Missing

Fear and uncertainty have gripped communities in Niger State following a deadly attack on a passenger vehicle along the Kotankoro–Bangi road, in what authorities suspect to be another case of banditry and kidnapping.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 27, 2026, when a local cleric, Usman Shadadi, popularly known as Malami Me Gwanje, was returning home after completing his daily business at Kotankoro market.

According to reports, the vehicle came under heavy gunfire after being ambushed by suspected armed bandits. Eyewitnesses say the attackers opened fire without warning, forcing the vehicle to a halt.

The driver was reportedly the only survivor, while all other passengers were taken away by the assailants.

Local sources fear the victims may have been kidnapped, a growing concern amid rising insecurity across parts of Nigeria, particularly along major rural roads.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims, including Malami Me Gwanje, remain unknown.

Families and residents are calling on security agencies to take urgent action to secure their safe return.
